Delphine Bedel will give a talk on her practice as photographer and publisher, and present her recent projects. In her photo books and exhibitions, she documents sites of tourism and urban transformation, combining her images with historical research and archival material. Through Meta/Books, her publishing and research platform, she works with emerging photographers, writers and designers. Through a collaborative process, together they explore various models of production, display and distribution. Bedel edited over 100 artists and photo books. She will describe her unique editorial process and recent publications, including the acclaimed photo books Out of the Blue by Virginie Rebetez and A Plastic Tool by Maya Rochat.

About the project

Meta/Books is a publishing and academic research platform, operating at the intersection of visual culture, media design and publishing. Since its inception in 2014, Meta/Books has sought to promote expanded publishing practices from print to digital, questioning the way information is displayed and manipulated through the publishing process and the use of artificial intelligence in photography.

Meta/Books works with leading art institutions, art and design academies and corporate clients, to develop cutting-edge publications, education projects, workshops and lecture series. Delphine Bedel, founder and creative director, also leads an academic research under the title ‘Meta/Books — Publishing as Artistic Practice’.
