Lado Alexi was born in 1977. He went to el­e­men­tary school in Moscow. Started to pho­to­graph at the age of eight. In 1989 he left Rus­sia for Berlin.

In 1997 – 2000 he worked as free­lance pho­tog­ra­pher and stud­ied pho­tog­ra­phy in Paris at Cen­tre Iris, a pro­fes­sional school of pho­tog­ra­phy. In 1997, while still a stu­dent, Lado did a re­portage about the Cannes fes­ti­val 50 years an­niver­sary cel­e­bra­tions. The work was com­mis­sioned by the fa­mous French pho­tog­ra­phy agency, Gamma&Stills.  These pho­togr­paphs were pub­lished in Paris Match and L'ex­press and ex­hib­ited at the Air France gallery in Paris.

In 1999 – 2004 Lado Alexi stud­ied graphic de­sign at the Uni­ver­sity of Ap­plied Sci­ences in Ham­burg.

In 2004 Lado Alexi was awarded the Best Ad­ver­tise­ment Pho­tog­ra­phy of the Year at the most promi­nent ad­ver­tise­ment com­pe­ti­tion, LUCIE AWARDS, in New-York. The pho­to­graph, which had been com­mis­sioned by YKK, the com­pany that in­vented zip­pers, was then ex­hib­ited at Far­mani Gallery (Los-An­ge­les), to­gether with other nom­i­nees' works. Later that year the pho­to­graph was pub­lished in the Epica Book-2004 festschrift cat­a­logue and in 200 Best Ad Pho­tog­ra­phers World­wide, the yearly pro­duc­tion of Luerzer's Archive.

At the mo­ment, Lado Alexi is one of the most in-de­mand and suc­cess­ful Ger­man fash­ion pho­tog­ra­phers. He works with such mag­a­zines as Vogue, Elle, AD, Tush, Jalouse, Glam­our, GQ, Paris Match, Zink, and is rep­re­sented by the well know Eu­ro­pean pho­tog­ra­phy agency, Schierke Pho­tog­ra­phers (Ger­many-France). His clients in­clude Cartier, L'Oreal, Estee Lauder, La­coste, YSL, Volk­swa­gen.
