Lado Alexi was born in 1977. He went to elementary school in Moscow. Started to photograph at the age of eight. In 1989 he left Russia for Berlin.

In 1997 – 2000 he worked as freelance photographer and studied photography in Paris at Centre Iris, a professional school of photography. In 1997, while still a student, Lado did a reportage about the Cannes festival 50 years anniversary celebrations. The work was commissioned by the famous French photography agency, Gamma&Stills.  These photogrpaphs were published in Paris Match and L'express and exhibited at the Air France gallery in Paris.

In 1999 – 2004 Lado Alexi studied graphic design at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg.

In 2004 Lado Alexi was awarded the Best Advertisement Photography of the Year at the most prominent advertisement competition, LUCIE AWARDS, in New-York. The photograph, which had been commissioned by YKK, the company that invented zippers, was then exhibited at Farmani Gallery (Los-Angeles), together with other nominees' works. Later that year the photograph was published in the Epica Book-2004 festschrift catalogue and in 200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide, the yearly production of Luerzer's Archive.

At the moment, Lado Alexi is one of the most in-demand and successful German fashion photographers. He works with such magazines as Vogue, Elle, AD, Tush, Jalouse, Glamour, GQ, Paris Match, Zink, and is represented by the well know European photography agency, Schierke Photographers (Germany-France). His clients include Cartier, L'Oreal, Estee Lauder, Lacoste, YSL, Volkswagen.
