With the support of the Education Committee, ROSPHOTO prepared a project of traveling exhibitions in comprehensive schools and lyceums of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region for the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the year of the Defender of the Fatherland.
The exhibition "Roads of War. The Feat of War Correspondents" is a photo chronicle that includes photographs taken by war correspondents along the route taken by the Red Army on the roads of the USSR and Europe. From the walls of Moscow, the streets and squares of Leningrad, the roads of war, following the heroes of the photographs, lead the viewer to Bryansk and Pskov, through Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Poland and Germany. The exhibition focuses on the everyday life of war with forced marches and halts, crossings and attacks, the tragedies of parting and the joys of short meetings. These photographs do not contain poster heroism and the horrors of wartime, but there is the life of war, seen from the point of view of its nameless workers, presented through continuous movement along the path of deprivation, along the road leading to victory and each to his own destiny. The theme of the road is reflected by all war photographers, and each resolves it in his own way. The project is aimed at educating the younger generation about traditional values, such as patriotism, humanism, and service to the Fatherland. The exhibition consists of photographs and historical texts.
