The exhibition features 60 original prints by Russian and international photographers of the second half of the 20th century from the ROSPHOTO collection, including works by Boris Smelov, Alexander Slyusarev, André Fage, Alexander Kitaev, Sergei Rogozhkin, Alexey Titarenko, Alexey Zelensky, and others.
During the art mediation, we will discuss how the exhibition title offers its own interpretation of the German stilleben and the English still life, which literally mean “quiet life,” as opposed to the more familiar term nature morte—“dead nature” in French. We will also explore the meanings carried by still life in the second half of the 20th century, what connects it to painting, and how the diversity of artistic approaches finds common ground. Since still life in both art and photography is almost always an intellectual game, we invite you to become a participant in this game at our art mediation.
