Welcome to X Annual Conference “Photography. Image. Document” that will be held online by State Museum and Exhibition Center ROSPHOTO at 27 November, 2020.

The Conference is a platform for constructive dialogue between specialists working in fields of preservation and comprehension of material cultural heritage and its introduction into the memory of culture. During the Conference the results of expert studies, which have been conducted by cultural historians and philosophers, culturologists, historical source criticism specialists, archivists, paleographers, art historians, criminalists and naturalists developing tools and methods of analyzing photographs and manuscripts, will be presented.

The conference proceedings will be published in the forthcoming volume of the “Photography. Image. Document” Journal. The Journal is peer-reviewed and published once a year. It is included in the system of NEL (RSCI).

The following issues to be discussed during the Conference:

  • photo document as an object of historical and aesthetic value;
  • dating and attribution of a historical photograph, technical and technological analysis and art research of a historical photography;
  • a historical photo document in the context of visual culture: the research methodology;
  • strategies of using cultural analysis of historical document;
  • requisitioners and experts: criteria and methods of evaluating historical photo documents;
  • particular features of storage and expertise of both digitized and born-digital documents and museum objects; the question of the authenticity of digital objects;
  • creating digital twins and their using for expert research of documents and museum objects; the equipment for scientific digitization;
  • interdisciplinary approach in research of cultural heritage: physical and chemical researches of modern historical documents and photographs;
  • photo- and optoelectronic methods in exercising process of documents and museum objects;
  • theory and methodology of expertise of historical documents, museum objects, works of art and archeological monuments;
