A retrospective of photojournalist, dated to his 70th anniversary
For some decades of work as the press photographer Boris Kaufman happened to photograph all leaders of our state, since N. S. Khrushchev. But the author himself is proud of his genre photos, which constantly received awards at the most prestigious international competitions. The series Women of Dagestan got «Golden eye» award at the international exhibition World Press Photo in 1973. The series The Person was born received a silver medal of the international exhibition Interpressphoto in 1983. With a photo The Cosmonaut among stars, representing the meeting of Jury Gagarin and Gina Lollobrigida, Boris Kaufman won the main prize in a nomination «The Person and a Century» on Fotobiennale-99 in Japan. The photo The Stare, which was awarded by several international prizes, has entitled the retrospective photo exhibition opening in the Museum of a political history of Russia. At an exhibition more than 60 photos are presented, including the portraits of G. A. Tovstonogov and K. J. Lavrov, A. D. Saharov and B. B. Piotrovsky, Federico Fellini, Sophia Loren, Angela Davis.

Boris Matveyevich Kaufman was born in 1938 in Baku. In 1964 he graduated from the faculty of journalism of the Moscow State University. He started his work in Novosti agency where in 1961. Since 1976 Kaufman was a head of illustrations department of Moskovskie Novosti, and since 1991 till 2006 he was a deputy editor-in-chief of Nezavisimaya Gazeta. B. M. Kaufman’s works were exhibited in London, Shanghai, Berlin, Prague, Sofia, Paris, Montreal, Osaka, etc.
